This advanced Spanish wine course is the most comprehensive certification course on Spanish wines and is endorsed by the Spanish Trade and Investment government agency. Those who pass can use the letters FWS after their name – great for your career or just to prove that you can!
It’s a rigorous and specialist course that goes into great depth about all Spanish wine appellations how their identities are shaped. It lasts for nine weeks and is made up of two-and-a-half-hour sessions on nine consecutive weeks with a one-hour exam at the end consisting of 100 multiple choice questions. To pass, you need to get 75% or more.

We run the course over nine weeks. On your first lesson you will be provided with a gorgeous 270 page full-colour study manual as well as one year’s access to the Wine Scholar Guild’s online e-learning resources. This contains quizzes, tests, games to help you learn.

There is, of course, lots of wine tasting – in fact you will taste over 80 wines including some rare and unusual ones. We cover the following regions in the course:
Week 1 – Green Spain (Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria, País Vasco)
Week 2 – Duero River Valley (Castilla y León)
Week 3 – La Rioja
Week 4 – Ebro River Valley (Navarra, Aragón)
Week 5 – Cataluña
Week 6 – Central Mediterranean Coast (Valencia, Murcia) & The Islands (Balearic/Canary Islands)
Week 7 – Meseta (Castilla-La Mancha, Madrid, Extremadura)
Week 8 – Andalucia
Week 9 – 1 hour Exam–100 question multiple choice.
