This is a highly respected specialist accreditation by the Wine Scholar Guild, that is officially endorsed by the Spanish Trade and Investment government agency.
If you pass this course you can use the letters SWS after your name which is great for your career prospects or just to prove your expertise in Spanish wine.
It’s a rigorous and specialist course that goes into great depth about all Spanish wine appellations how their identities are shaped. It lasts for five weeks and is made up of day release sessions on five consecutive weeks. There is a one-hour exam at the end consisting of 100 multiple choice questions. To pass, you need to get 75% or more.
We are licensed by the Wine Scholar Guild to provide this course using their materials.
An evening class version over 9 weeks from 6.30pm-9pm.
You will be provided with a gorgeous comprehensive, full-colour study manual as well as one year’s access to the Wine Scholar Guild’s online e-learning resources. This contains quizzes, tests, maps and flashcards to help you learn.
On successful completion of the 100 question multiple choice exam, you will receive a certificate, pin badge and right to use the SWS post-nominals.

There is, of course, lots of wine tasting – in fact you will taste over 45 wines including some rare and unusual ones. We cover the following regions in the course –
Evening class, 8 week format:
Week 1 – Introduction & Green Spain (Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria, País Vasco).
Week 2 – The Duero Valley (Ribera del Duero, Rueda & Toro).
Week 3 – La Rioja & Ebro River Valley (Navarra, Aragón).
Week 4 – Cataluña & Central Mediterranean Coast (Valencia, Murcia).
Week 5 – The Meseta (Castilla-La Mancha, Madrid, Extremadura).
Week 6 – Andalucía & Sherry.
Week 7- The Islands (Balearic/Canary Islands).
Week 8 – 1 hour Exam–100 question multiple choice paper.
