WSET Level 2 in Spirits

This course is for those working in the industry or for people who just love spirits – it’s an intermediate level course where you will develop your knowledge. The course covers raw ingredients and production methods in the key spirits as well as how to use spirits in cocktails. You’ll also learn how to describe the taste of spirits.

You can take this course in the following ways:

You will get to know a range of spirit types including fruit spirits (Cognacs, for example), whiskey/whisky, rum, tequila, mezcal, vodka, gin, vermouth and liqueurs.

You need to be over 18 (you’ll be tasting around 30 samples) and we provide you with extra support in the form of our exclusive study guides. These are free to Northern Wine School students and have been developed to really help you with your studies.

The course ends in an exam which is usually taken in person. If you’re studying at home or online, this is in Manchester. However, due to COVID-19, WSET has made it possible to take this exam online. It is a 50 question multiple-choice exam which lasts for one hour. You must score 55% or above to pass. Those who pass will get a certificate and lapel pin and the right to use the associated WSET Certified logo. Oh, by the way: we have a 100% pass rate!
